Merely a small compilation of the photographs I took throughout my day in Paris. I had such an incredibly wonderful time. Paris is such a beautiful and picturesque place. It has completely stolen my heart.
My main reasoning for wanting to go to Paris was to go to the Louvre. My expectations didn’t even remotely live up to the reality of what a magnificent place it is. The artwork inside is incredible, and the architecture.. wow. The detailing that has gone into some of the rooms is something in itself. I could spend a day just admiring the beauty of that alone.
Visiting the Louvre has completely re-opened my love for art and architecture. Knowing I’m not on the career path I thought I would be for over 10 years of my life is hard as it’s something I was so set upon and I think that is why I gave up on art and architecture. That’s about to change.
Paris, you were amazing and beautiful. I can’t wait to come back and discover more of you.

Long bus journeys are nothing to me and so after travelling altogether for almost 24 hours I had finally arrived in Paris, albeit 2 hours later than I was supposed to. Just as well I didn’t have any kind of itinerary or plan for my day ahead or it would have completely messed that up.
When I mentioned to people I was going to Paris just for the day many thought I was mad, but honestly it was great. I think if I had went for longer it would have been great too but the day has just made me long to go back again and again.
Just a very small selection of pictures from my day in Paris which I’ll speak about more later on.
All I can say is, if you want to go to Paris, go. I’m not going to lie my day was spent pretty much being your typical tourist but it was worth it and it was great. I feel like I had a day jam packed with so much and I would have probably done more had I organised my time but sometimes it’s good to just go somewhere and not know what the day is going to consist of, and that’s exactly what I did here.

This time last year I had hopped on a plane from Glasgow and landed in Berlin for a whirlwind couple of days.
The reasoning behind going? I won’t lie, it was to see Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds (although I didn’t have a ticket, but managed to buy one there).
I had such an amazing time in Berlin. It was a great experience and it was amazing learning more about the city. For now all I have are the memories, the pictures and the occasional letter for my fine. Oops.
I thought I would share just a few of my favourite pictures from my time in Berlin.
And my absolute favourite happens to be this one. Mother with her dead son by Käthe Kollwitz.
This has to be one of the most powerful things ever. Walking into the place and there being nothing else but this statue, standing itself in the middle of the room with a giant hole in the ceiling above it (apparently it looks breathtakingly beautiful with the rain pouring down over it). It really is an emotional place and somewhere that I would definitely suggest visiting if in Berlin.

Well, this is pretty much our time in Perth summed up in pictures. From tourist duties to eating the best macarons we have ever tasted (but I’ll tell you about them soon).
What do you do with less than 24 hours in Paris? How do you prioritise must do’s and sees against the not so quite important things? I’m currently searching for the answer.
With my upcoming American road trip I don’t exactly have a vast amount of money to spare when it comes to taking trips and travelling at the moment. Hence the less than 24 hours in Paris part. I’ve managed so scrape the money together to get a bus from Glasgow to Paris. The way I see it is more of a birthday present to myself, (I’m 23 the day before I go).
I’ve searched the depths of the Internet (sometimes ending up in the deep, dark part of it), all to try and find the must see and do things while I’m in Paris. With less than a full day in the city I want to spend my time wisely to see as much as I can but without rushing it either.
I will obviously be a bit of a typical tourist visiting the eiffel tower, the Louvre etc but I also want to see the parts of Paris that the Parisians for the most part have kept so well to themselves. I want to discover secret, hidden away places that most people wouldn’t dare to take a second glance at and delve into to discover the wonders of. I have a few ideas of where to head to but would absolutely love to hear from you all on where I must go or what I must see.
Paris is somewhere I’ve been meaning to go back to visit for such a long time now. My last time there was 2009 on a school trip that didn’t end quite so well for me but that’s a story for another time.

How beautiful and picturesque is this city?
I’m definitely glad we decided to visit Amsterdam at this time of year. The weathers actually been really great, not to mention Amsterdam just looks beautiful in the Autumn. Day 2 (Saturday):
Our second day started off rather early, we were up at about 7am and quickly headed down to have our breakfast in our hostel. It was lovely, consisted of things such as: breads, rice cakes, cheese, meats, fruit, cereal etc. we filled ourselves up on that before starting our day!
Anne Frank Huis, such an emotional place.
Our first stop for the day was the Anne Frank Huis. We arrived there about twenty to 9 (it opens at 9am) and the queue was twisted around the side of the building. After it opened at 9, we found it actually moved rather quickly and at 10am we found ourselves entering.
What a place. I don’t quite know what I was expecting it to be like but it definitely wasn’t what I imagined it to be. The annex was a lot bigger than I imagined it to be for a start (the whole place was), but then I guess if there was 8 people living there 24 hours a day it wouldn’t feel so big! I guess I just imagined something completely different. Although I’ve read about Anne’s journey before going here definitely opened my eyes more to it, learning more about Anne and her family and everyone else that spent time in the Annex hiding. It is a must see when visiting Amsterdam, I would definitely recommend getting up that bit earlier to head along.
Our next stop was the Amsterdam Dungeons. I have to admit I wasn’t too fussed about going here, having been to both Edinburgh and Berlin dungeons I wasn’t that mad about going. But, I ended up going with my friends. If I could have navigated the trams myself I would have went to the Van Gogh Museum instead as that’s where I really wanted to go, I have to admit though the Amsterdam Dungeons were pretty good. I got picked to go up on the court and try to convince them I wasn’t a ‘witch’ it was a laugh to say the least.
Two of my friends then went to Madame Tussaud’s, and the rest of us went shopping for both souvineers and clothes. After which we met up and it was back to the hostel for a much needed nap!
We decided to find a nice place to have dinner as it was our last night, and we found ourselves in a nice little place where most of us ended up with lovely pasta dishes. If I could remember the name of the place I would say where but I can’t.
Girls on tour, just before we hit the red light district! We decided we could not leave Amsterdam without having been to the red light district. So of course that’s where we found ourselves next. I have to admit, once again.. It wasn’t anything like I expected. Red Light District – full of absolute beauties!
For a start, every single girl was drop dead gorgeous we were walking past just thinking “Why do I not look like that?!” It wasn’t as sleazy as I imagined it to be either, yes you have windows full of practically naked girls trying to entice people in but it wasn’t as crude as we all thought. We’re definitely glad we went a walk along, just to see what it was all about. Well that was our weekend in Amsterdam. Have you been before? 3 weeks time and I’ll be in this beautiful country for 5 days. Spending some of my 22nd birthday there.
I’m looking forward to it so much, going with 2 other girls as we’re going to see Noel Gallagher’s High Flying birds.
Obviously planning on visiting some beer gardens and such, but where are some of the must go places? Places that maybe aren’t obvious tourist places.
Also, how much do you reckon would be needed for 5 days here?!
So it’s now 2014 and don’t I know it because I spent my new year somewhere I’ve always dreamt of going to and that’s New York City. I brought the bells in on Times Square with my mum and it was incredibly. The atmosphere was just wow.. If there’s one thing you have to do in your life it’s spend new year in New York, trust me you won’t regret it.
I went on a mad shopping spree, seen loads of sights, ate loads of food and probably one of the best parts was getting to see the Lion King on broadway in New York. Topped off the whole thing.
New York, you really have stolen my heart, just like I knew you would. I’ll be back, maybe not one day soon, but I’ll definitely be back one day.
Less than four days from now and I’ll be in New York! Case is packed and I’m ready to go and hit the city! Honestly can’t contain my excitement. I can already tell it’ll be an amazing five days over there.
We’ve got our 9/11 memorial stuff booked and of course our lion king tickets. I just can’t wait to go to this amazing city over new year and shop till I drop.
